catchin up on november

Well now it's been a couple of days, eh?
Lets see what I can remember....
Nov 26th, Wed
Thanksgiving eve went off ok, other than Kristen had to work and couldn't go to din din..
Baby Wilwee (Lilly) came and Ant was happy happy... wanted to hold her, cause ya see he's now not the baby any more.... after din din the baby passing began.
As I said, din din went ok even though we all brought something instead of having mother hen cook it all, she only had to worry about the turkey and gravy, much to her angst.
Nov 27th, Thrus
Thanksgiving at the wifies fathers, dinner was again great. We played pass the baby again with Lilly, before and after din din. Matt, the wifies nephew has a daughter, 16, I don't know all the details but she came and was introduced to all, wheres my couch.
Nov 28th, Fri
Did some hunting and then Fridays play date was at Grammie Pats, (my parents). Family from Pen were in town for the holiday and stopped by, Ant was the center of attention. Left overs, chocolate pie hmmm.
Nov 29th, Sat
Was called into work, a guys son had a baby. Get stuff sorted out for Bills game on Sunday.
Nov 30th, Sun
Junior won Bills tickets, they're playing his 49ers. Up early, dressed warmly, cooler packed, rain gear in hand ( remember hunting without it?) and away we about 8 am. Drive ok, just past Rochester some blowing snow. Get there and parked, over cast decide rain gear not needed and head off to the game. All is well till mid way through the second quarter then it starts drizzling, no rain gear, again. His 49ers won, all it good in the world. About an hour, we're warmed and working our way outta the parking lot looking for rt 219 and 90 east. We were slowed on the way home for at least 2 accidents, coming to complete stops and waits both times, was back home around 10 pm.
and there you have the rest of November...

what the hell is going on...

How can people be in such a hurry to SHOP, yes GET IN A STORE AND SHOP that they stampede and someone gets crushed and dies??? Not to get out 'cause there's a fire or earthquake.... but to shop.... and then be pissed off when the store says it's closing 'cause the poor doorman dies....
I don't understand, what is that important that one is in that much of a hurry???
This is one reason that I wait till, say the 20th....

My sympathies to is family and coworkers

gone huntin

This past weekend was opening weekend for deer here and we started off on the wrong foot.

First it was raining and I couldn't find my rain coat, had my pants but no coat. I recall having it in my hand when I put my orange hat to my box, why isn't it here... think think think...
My box is where I keep or carry my hunting cloths, hats, jackets, gloves, rain gear, cold gear, blah, blah, blah. I also have a milk crate for the over flow, no rain coat there either. I used a poncho I've had forever and never used. My arms got a little wet, but there isn't any soap in rain and I didn't melt either.

Second, on the way to our happy hunting grounds there's a detour sign, which didn't seem right to me cause it didn't say road closed local traffic only and my father, who was driving took it. He swears I told him to. We took a left turn so we have to take a right turn to get back on track, next detour sign points to the left again, I say no he turns left and says that they know where they're sending us.......... Needless to say, after we drive into another county he thinks we should turn around. We arrive at the happy hunting grounds an hour late but it's 1 less hour I'll be wet.

Day 1 of the 08 deer season, deer 1 - hunters 0, the deer win, we see nothing.

Day 2, dry and cold, I have clothes for that. 10am after seeing nuttin but other hunters and a couple of squirrels I head to the truck for lunch. I decide to take a hike, not as far as I did a few years ago, that's a lesson I learned. I shot a doe at 9am and didn't get back to the truck till 3pm, whew and that was with three guys helping me. Here's my game plan, I'll cut through the patch of woods we've been in, across the field and half way up the big hill and slowly head back south to the road. Anyone coming in from the road, top or bottom of the hill will push deer to me. This plan works more or less perfectly, except the part where I shot the deer as two got away.

Day 2, deer 2 - hunters 0, deer win but I've seen them.

Day 3, snow, I have clothes for that, no prob. Half day today, heading home around noon. There's about 3 inches of snow on the ground, I can see farther and movement better Plus we can see where they've been and are going. Climb the hill, stand till 9am and start walking, get back to the truck around noon. I've seen nothing, I know where people are, have been and which way they're going.... no deers.

Day 3, deer 3 - hunters 0, deers win 3-0 for our 08 hunters trip....

as the xmas song says... let it snow

here we go and some say it's early...
got my snowblower all ready and am getting gas in the morning.

Oswego, N.Y. -
Although winter does not officially begin until Dec. 21 by the lunar calendar, old man winter has already blown through the Port City of Oswego.
According to local weather observer Bill Gregway, the city of Oswego received roughly four inches of snow in the period stretching from around 8:30 p.m., Sunday, to 7 a.m., Monday. “It was pretty heavy, wet snow,” he said, noting that the season’s first snow was full of water.

People forgot how to drive, again....
According to the Oswego County 911 center, there were a total of 40 property damage accidents as of late Monday afternoon. There were also 11 accidents involving injuries or possible injuries resulting from the snowfall.

Gregway gave a brief timeline of events that kicked off the Port City’s winter season. Around 6 p.m. Sunday it began to rain. Right before 8:30 p.m., the winds shifted and some ice and snow pellets began to mix in with the rain. “At 8:35 p.m. to be exact, we had a flash of lightning and thunder and with that came the snow,” he said.
Throughout Sunday evening into early Monday morning, there were four occurrences of heavier snow bursts called thunder snow, the weather observer said. The thunder snow struck at 8:55 p.m., 12:05 a.m., 12:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
“It’s caused by the lake effect clouds when they are generally quite lower to the surface,” Gregway explained. “They create static electricity and give off lightning. That usually ushers in a heavier snow burst.”
The snow that Oswego received was lake effect and it lasted until about 7 a.m., Monday. According to Gregway, the winds shifted again early Monday, pushing the band to head south near Syracuse. He noted that the snow and winds were not as heavy after the band moved away from Oswego County.

2 new friends.....

Well, I figured it out, I think, after a while and now I have 2 new friends, whether they know it or not. A couple of gals, 1/2 my age that are buddies as well as bloggers. Some people would call that stalking..... but then again, they may not even know I linked them here on my page.

and now for something completely different....

In other news, I had the dreaded colonoscopy last week, no problems but I gotta tell you this little story. You see, I have this tattoo on the outside of my right calf, I'll work on getting a pic up for you all. As the one gal was working on the iv end, hooking me up to the monitors. The other gal was working on the other end, getting me into the proper position, said "oh, that's a nice one", I said "Thank you, oh, you mean the tattoo" to which she promptly smacked me on the ass and stated that she's seen a thousand butts and we all had a good laugh.
hey, and here it is....

That's about all I remember.... good drugs man...

I'm thinking

Hi all, or to whom, whatever.

If someone stops by, leave a note so I know you were here.

Anyway, back to thinking.... if the government would give me my portion of that 700 BILLION I would help stimulate the economy.

Think about that, give everyone, home owner, 1 home, tax payer, legal resident or however they figure the census for the total number of people in America their piece of that 700 BILLION that they're giving the banks or wall street, imagine how much the economy would be stimulated....

BUT then again if there are 700 BILLION people in the US we'd only get a dollar so that wouldn't do much, would it.

OR the folks with troubles paying their mortgage, redo them 30 years at 5%, the banks still get their money, the people keep their homes and the gov keeps our money. Sounds easy to me but I'm not a politician nor an economist.

To recap Thursdays post, darts went well, we won 4 of 9 games and that should put us mid pack at this time but it's early, week 1.

As for the golf tourney that we were going to, the only golf we saw was in tv.
When we got there the parking attendant informed us that the course was closed til 4pm, so we spun around and headed over to the casino, that's where the tourney was at. We got our Diamond Cards as that's how it's done, you put money on a gaming card, 50$ each, big spenders I know.

We couldn't find the machines we liked so we settled for another type of .25 video poker machine and after a few games she decided we needed to change. We hunted some more found the ones we wanted, stuck our cards in and it came up insufficient funds, huh??? what the???? oopsie we were at $25.00 machines not the .25 cent machines. After more exploring we found what we were looking for and played away.
Needless to say I lost my $50 and she broke even, cashing out her card for $50 bucks. I don't know what the time line was for all this because I forgot to put my watch on, oh well. good times....

Now my only problem is, I didn't know how easy it was to get there and find the place..... if ya know what I mean....

see ya

god golfs on fridays and I forgot my lunch

We had our Friday play date, with Ell, Ant and Sky at my sisters house, pizza and beer... the beer was for us big people, sodas for the other three. She went and picked up the pizza and saved us about 7 bucks... geeesh 7 bucks to deliver 6 blocks that's crap... anyway, Ell was done with her slice first and ready to play, so the other 2 said they were done too after only eating 1/2 of theirs. To which I stated that no one's going anywhere til' everyone was done, at that time Ant forgot he was done and asked for more. I grabbed 2 for me with another beer and started idle chit chat to keep everybody at the table so Sky would finish at least 1 piece, mission accomplished. I think I ended up eating 6 pieces. Pizza is diet food isn't it??
After having such a well balanced dinner I thought a walk would be in order and before said walk we would all go the the bathroom one at a time Ant first. Ant proudly let us know that he pooped, ah to be 3 again.
As we walked we talked, there's Lupas house, there's Sky's mothers apartment house way before Sky. That car's from California, that house has lots of yard toys, there's a nice mail box, hey look at that bird house. As we were coming to the church I asked if anyone thought if God was home Ant replied no God wasn't home tonight cause he was golfing. God golfs on Friday nites, who knew and according to Ant he goes bowling after golf. Other things we saw on our walk were where a racecar driver lives, a canoe on a garage, some nice flowers, the neighborhood watchdog, good times.

I have to work again tonight, OT. I grabbed my bag for my shower after work and headed out all he while thinking I forgot something. Sunglasses check, keys check, good shirt for church check, I'm on my way. Now we have a bridge closed for repairs and there is only 1 other one to get to the eastside where I have to go. I pull up up to the light in line four cars back, a little old lady is trying to pull out of a store there on the corner and she wants to go left too so now she has both southbound lanes blocked. There is also another gal wanting to do the same thing so now there are two cars blocking both lanes and I am also in the south bound lane to turn left. After the light changes for the second time and nobody moving, I change lanes, drive into and out of the parking lot and am first in line to got straight. I go up a block, pull in on side of hairdressers driveway and out the other, get back up to the light which has a turn right arrow and make my now right turn onto the bridge which was a left turn coming from the other way and the little old lady is still sitting there holding everyone up.
The rest of the ride way uneventful, I get to work, reach for gym bag and my lunch oopsie now I know what I forgot, my lunch, I get hungry just thinking about not having anything to eat all night. oh well, sux to be me, I guess I'll have to buy a cookie and coke, more health food.

an old dog and new tricks

well, as I said yesterday, I'm trying to learn, mostly on the fly.
So I'm messin' around looking at different settings and one asks if I want to read in Hindi, hey what do I care if this is readable in Hindi. I click enable, come back today, start typing away, all these words of wisdom and it ain't nothing I can read, huh.... and as you see, I've made the change back... but I have added daily pin-up girls.. that's cool... not bad for an old guy..
it's back to work and looking for more stuff to put on here.... see ya

sunday

Well it's Sunday and the fest is all but over, 4 days ya know, the last full weekend of July.
Sky is sluggish, up early, out late.
She. why is it over?
me. it's only 4 days..
she. how come?
me . it is what it is, and everyone had to get back to work tomorrow.
she. you're fireworks were good, I really liked them.

her mom told her they we did them for her bday, which happens during the fest.

me. yeapper they were weren't they.
she. do you have any more?
me. nope, used them all up last night, have to save up for next year. *little white lies*
she. can I come back next year?
me. yes dear this home is your home, you can always come here..

Ma gets her in the tub and shortly shes gone, back to her dads....

Me and the dog are left sitting here on the deck, watching and thinking...
a long time coming and over so quickly..... time to clean up

Saturday... time to take the rides

It's time to do the rides and the kids are ready.
Mark, Elly, Sky and me head down to the river where we pick up the water taxi.
It's new this year cause the bridge is being worked on, 2 boats holding about 50 people running back and forth ferrying festers from east to west.
We get our tickets and it's to the fun house, the girls love it for whatever reason.
After going through it about 20 times it's on the other rides, spinning, twisting, laughing....
good times yes good times.
As it starts raining, again we catch the trolley, change to the downtown bus to cross the river another trolley and we're back home.

Fire works tonight, it's the big draw, streets blocked off, no traffic, walkers with strollers and coolers, right across the street from the house over the lake. The change is glued to the sidewalk,
the dollar is taped to a new string, we're good to go.
No drinking and driving tonight, I'm already home.
Ant's here shaking beers, the whole fam damily here, chairs, coolers, popcorn, treats it's all good.... I'm in my glory, only one person missing but she's here in spirit, Skys mom, my baby, she loved this too.
We're treated with a great fireworks display, man make and by mother nature, flashing lighting in the background, there are pics out there somewhere.
45 mins and it's all over, it's back to people watching.
The ones that went up the hill are now heading back down and the ones the went down are heading up. huh makes me wonder, but hey I just sittin here on my deck enjoying a beer and watching the cheer...

Harborfest Friday

The kiddie parade is this morn and I'm the can man, have to get going early.
Mark and the kids are here, is the bro in law and the kids are Ant and Elly, Elly is 6 mts older than Sky and they're bestest buds.
I love being the can man, it's fun... all the kiddies want to say hi and get their pics taken.
That and messin' with people, cause they don't know who's in the can suit.
I have 3 lovely helpers this year unlike last year where I had two dudes and they were watching for lovelies...... The one gal stays with me all the time, oh to be 21 again....
She spots the kiddies and aims me where I should toss T shirts.

Joan Jet is playing at the park, 9pmish, Sky and I and her other Grandparents head up, ma stays home and entertains. Big crowd, we get where we can see, Sky loves it, the people the tunes. Her older stuff was received better by the younger folk, we all knew the words....
Another day of Festering but tomorrow is the BIG for Sky and Elly, it's midway time.

one last beer and bed time...

gone fishing

my fishin' fashion statment 07....

I'm back....

It's still July and it's Harborfest.... the city's big 4 day party, free concerts, trolleys, buses, junk food to eat, midway rides, all kinds of good stuff. party party party. Also, it's Sky's bday, she 7 now. She comes to stay with us for Harborfest, likes being in the middle of it all.

We head out Thurs afternoon under overcast skies, sure enough we're 3 blocks away from home and it starts raining, we hurry to the trolley stop 1/2 a block away, as the trolley gets there, hop on and it takes us back home. On the ride I call the wife, have her find our rain coats, we hop off, the rain stops, we grab our coats and it's off the other way to the park.

After the short walk, past the 911 trailer, blue boys...

her: I'm not using one of those..

me: fine..

her: how about you..

me: if I have to.....

her: yeah me too, if I really have to..

me: k...

.... past the street walking vendors...

her: what are they doing...

me: getting their stuff ready to sell..

her: can I get something..

me: if you want but, you've got that stuff before and it doesn't last now does it...

her: yeah, I have gotten that before and no it doesn't last, only a couple of days..

I'm going to save my money..

Me: good for you..

7 huh

we get ice cream cones, get a table under to big top tent and people watch, if I've taught her anything it's people watching, we're good at it.

While observing the goings on it starts raining again, then pouring. It's raining hard, right past cats and dogs to fish, ducks and frogs.... it's raining..

then the thunder and lighting or is it lighting and thunder.... at first she fine but the school gals start shrieking with the lighting and thunder and she starts getting antsy..

it lets up a little and we head home to dry out and have pizza...

early evening it stops raining but we're done festering for today, people are dropping by, now we're entertaining.... and fri is another day... hey Ant, wheres my beer....

so long for now..

lost in time

I have to do a better job at this.
A lot of things have happened over the summer.
Bdays, Yankees trip, Harborfest, a wake.....

June....
I'll start with the wake...
Ya see, it was from the old neighborhood, where I grew up...
an elderly guy, 90+, I went with my parents... they're in their 70's, his kids in their 60's and me at 50... it was like I was a little kid again...... young Donny...
weird...

Then the wife and I went on a bus trip down to see the Yankees play the Royals.
We had fun, hot though. We sat in the bleachers Friday evening and nose bleed right field Saturday. Hot saturday, I think I only had 1 beer, too hot for me to drink beer. There were a lot of drunk people on the bus for the ride home, 2 gals slept really well.
Then there was my bday, 51 now, big whoop BUT one has to go through the motions.

July...
The Fourth and the fireworks are across the street from our house, visitors with beer, ya gotta love it.
We have a party at my brother and his wife's house, swimming, burgers, dogs, presents for the nephew, Anthony who's 3. My sister has him shake up my beer all the time, so I pull up his shirt and open it, spraying beer on either his belly or back, whichever way I catch him... it's big laughs.. ya see, he was hatched a little early, 2 months I think, so I guess that's why no one complanes.
Later in the month we end up at our granddaughters other grandparents for her bday party, Sky is now 7. Old Ant is shaking my beer and wearing them well. Being the explorer that he is, he finds the water balloons and I become the target for all the youngins. BUT the balloons weren't filled to the almost breaking point, so they bounce off, drop to the ground where I pick them up, offer them back to the little buggers, only to squeeze and break them over their heads, sending them laughing, dripping and running for more. My own version of shock and aw. and a good time was had by all....
that brings us to Harborfest, but I have to say ttfn and I'll be back in my best Arnold voice...

well, here we are again

Yeah, that's the title and here we are.
Typing away for all to see and don't know if I'm anywhere yet.. oh well

Tuesday's plan worked nicely, except the part where the dog chewed a deck of cards and had them in his cage and scatered around the kitchen...
was he playing solitaire, practicing card tricks or just 52 card pick up with the wife?
I suppose he's just being frisky, seeing how he's not a year old yet.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

i need a title every time?

well, I've been looking about, at other bloggers blogs and how they go about blogging.... I thinking I'm learning.. maybe not, still don't know how one gets someone else to check you out....
where's the how to do page cause help ain't helping me...
and I'd just as soon have it as a running commentary of things, ya know?

here's my plan for this morning...
shower and head home
take the dog out
hop on the bike (10 speed) and get to the barbershop
head back home
walk the dog
hit the sack

yep, that's the plan
